Standing on Giants – The Signs

The opening track on this EP “The Signs” is a good introduction to Standing on Giants; a four piece indie-rock group from South East England. Standing On Giants showcase their style in this opening tune “Move Slow” which includes a fondness for vocal harmonies and an overall laid back brit-indie vibe.
“I remember” is a melancholy song laced with regret and nostalgia. The minimal guitar backing allows the open and honest lyrics to become the central point of this tune “I remember thinking that I was exempt/ From all of these things that got me out of my bed.” Lead singer Simon Briley has strong clear vocals similar to Matthew Murphy of The Wombats and that allow the lyrics to really shine through.
“The Signs” is the title track and lead single from this EP and is easily the strongest track of the EP and certainly the most commercial. With multiple stops and starts and a very catchy repetitive guitar riff it’s not hard to imagine this song doing well.
Standing on Giants show a lot of potential and their talent has earned them support slots for Bloc Party, The Crookes and the Holloways and has also gained them recognition from multiple radio stations in the UK. This is quite a short EP, with only 4 tracks it is sure to leave fans hoping for a future album release, which seems likely for Standing On Giants.
