Nils Frahm – Felt
aaamusic | On 02, Oct 2011
The music of Nils Frahm draws, through his first master Nahum Brodski, back to Tschaikowski, deepened by a taste for minimalism and the atmospheres created by Brian Eno and Philip Glass.
Felt is a eulogy to calm and introspection, a trip to inner felicity that reminds of the acoustic escapes of Eluvium, Helius (aka Goldmund) and Hauschka; nine tracks of piano and gentle electronics, mind-blowing and comforting at the same time.
Felt was born by accident, as evidence of the noble soul of Nils, who discovered the magic of damped keyboards just trying to do a favour to his neighbours silencing the sound of its piano. Felt was recorded analogue with a tape machine and then mixed digitally, providing an atmosphere of spontaneity, as the listener was in its same room.
Intimate and evocative, Felt is one of the best releases of minimalism of 2011. Frahm’s tour will touch Belgium and Netherlands in November and it will be unmissable for anybody lucky enough to grab a ticket.
