Little Fish – Wonderful

It’s hard to review another brilliant song of Little Fish just when one its members left the band. Nez, the pulsing heart of Little Fish, won’t play the drums anymore with Juju, and this comes from the same words of Julia. She says, “although Nez and I have become and remain best of friends, I’m crying into the sun, hoping it will kiss the fever away”.
Would be Little Fish the same without Nez? No, for sure. Because the bond between a band members is the lifeblood that makes music so special, and the music made by Little Fish is more than special. Because it is timeless, doesn’t follow easy trends but aims straight to the heart of its fans. Honest, impetuous and, incredibly good. The same can be said about Wonderful, the first single from the sophomore album.
Recorded by Supergrass icon Gaz Coombes, Wonderful is an inspiring song that marks a very promising development of Little Fish, less furious than the first songs but much more rounded and focused. Ben’s Hammond provides layers of atmosphere to Little Fish music confirming how his entrance in the band has been a breath of fresh air. We need more of this, and we sincerely hope Nez decision won’t influence the great music of Little Fish.
