The Asteroid Shop to Release
Self-Titled Debut on October 18, 2011

The Asteroid Shop’s front man Eric Brendo is an atypical minstrel; a space-age story-teller from the past, brought reluctantly into the future. As a result, their music oozes depth, courage, despair and hope all at once.

The ambient alt-rock of The Asteroid Shop skims through the same vast sea as contemporaries Richard Ashcroft, Spiritualized and My Bloody Valentine and channeling, at once, the likes of Mazzy Star, early Pink Floyd and The Secret Machines. Brendo, as principle songwriter, is joined by an explosively talented lineup of Austin-based musicians Michael Kester (keys), Todd Pruner (guitar), Jonathan Konya (drums) and Tray Duncan (bass). In terms of inspiration for this album, Brendo explains, “It’s basically about embracing the labor of the unknown and allowing and respecting special visits and their infinite possibilities leading us through space and time.”

To kick things off, the group recently launched a promotional campaign on Facebook giving away a free EP of Dandelion in exchange for “liking” the The Asteroid Shop’s Facebook page, which you can find here. The EP includes the title track, “Dandelion,” as well as two unreleased remixes and an instrumental version. Stay tuned for the official release of their self-titled album The Asteroid Shop on October 18th, along with a string of Fall tour dates in support of the record. Witnessing the band live is akin to being in space… far out in space.
