The Unkindness Of Ravens return with a new single

| On 18, Sep 2011

The Unkindness of Ravens are back!

The Unkindness of Ravens are underground electro duo Nina Wagner (vox) and Ben Raine (bass & vox) and they return with a brand new double A-side single Virus | Viper, due for release on 3rd October 2011 via Sonic Fire Records.

The pair have already been compared to acclaimed bands such like The White Stripes and The Kills, however, their sound is darker and heavier, more soulful and progressive. The Unkindness of Ravens are a band to be judged entirely on their own considerable merits.

Virus | Viper comes after Nina and Ben spent the first few months of 2011 writing, recording and touring in Germany. They returned to the UK, honed their sound and the product is this razor sharp double A-side offering. “Virus” is tribal. The pounding beats punctuated only by Ben’s minimalist guitar and Nina’s staccato-like delivery of the lyrics “you have to be the cure”, over and over again. “Viper” demonstrates a different dimension to Nina and Ben’s angular, futuristic sound with heavier guitars and intertwining melodic vocals.

Last year, after series of single releases including Dead Air and White Road, the band released the EP I Used To Be So Pretty. Excellent reviews and coverage followed from magazines like Rock Sound to Artrocker and an array of features online on Clash, NYLON and The 405. This proved that The Unkindness of Ravens’ sound transcends all genres – electro, rock and indie.

You can watch the video for “Virus” is on The Unkindness of Ravens’ YouTube channel and is their take on Blade Runner meets Black Swan (warning: contains strobe effects).

“Virus” was also used as the backing track for French Connection’s AW11 preview video.

The Unkindness of Ravens are one of the UK’s most exciting underground prospects. They’re live show is brimming with heat and passion, whilst the music is akin to the aforementioned The Kills on acid! With their debut album on the horizon, set to drop in 2012, the future looks exciting for The Unkindness of Ravens.
