Singer-songwriter Stephen Black, better known as his alias Sweet Baboo, has proved that music doesn’t need to be overproduced to grab our attention. With a stripped, ‘back to basics’ sound, Girl Under A Tree is a raw and beautiful release that, through thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies, is immediately engaging.

The opening track, Girl Under A Tree, is a catchy tune with pretty melodies and authentic sounding vocals that gears you up for the rest of the record. In Great Year Black’s cracked vocals roll over simple instrumentals to produce a stripped-back, poetic sound. The final track Bounce takes it up a gear increasing the pace with an altogether fuller sound whilst retaining that unpolished edge.

An utterly charming release that will leave you wanting more.
