MARGATE

Rock ‘N Roll Reserve

No, this isn’t the well known Kent seaside town with its famous roller coaster, though there’s some scarily fast music! Margate is a Los Angeles based three piece indie punk rock band.

The cohesive line-up is Alex Helbig on drums and lead vocals, Steve Weil on bass and Doug Mitchell on guitar. Their style is a bit like Foo Fighters, Rise Against and Bad Religion.

Their two prior full-length albums Songs In The Key Of Awesome (2006) and On The Other Side (2009) helped develop their reputation for imagination and complexity.

Their 6 track EP Rock ‘n Roll Reserve will be released on September 6th, 2011 by Room 57. It’s imaginative, talented and has some impressive songs.

Control is typical of their energetic, original and alternative style. Their re-interpretation of Eleanor Rigby, the tragic Beatles song about death, loneliness and desolation, treats this classic with respect.  It helped establish the Beatles as a more experimental band and this rocky version keeps the raw, sombre and strikingly vivid sound of the original.

The remaining 4 tracks are: Live It Up, Lovesick, Rock ‘n Roll Reserve & This Road.
