Cherryade records presents ‘Panic Plants’, the new single from Lancaster duo The Lovely Eggs. The band are currently touring Germany with Art Brut, Ganglians and Screaming Females, before taking to the road for their own set of headline dates (see below).
With an ace combo of art rock, punk rock, indie and riot grrrl, The Lovely Eggs are sure to appeal to fans of X-Ray Spex, Sonic Youth, Half Japanese and The Moldy Peaches. ‘Panic Plants’ is the third single to be taken from their critically acclaimed album ‘Cob Dominos’. It’s an effervescent tale of living with OCD, as told by TLE in their own inimitable way.
The band’s dare-to-be-different approach has seen them record sessions for BBC Radio One, BBC 6 Music and XFM, as well as being played by Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Bethan Elfyn, Marc Riley, Rob Da Bank, Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe, John Kennedy, Chris Hawkins, Jon Hillcock and Tom Ravenscroft.
Previous single ‘Fuck It’, was released on limited edition 7″ on the May bank holiday. Radio DJs couldn’t play it and as the shops were shut, no-one could buy it. The video for their last single ‘Don’t Look At Me (I Don’t Like It)’ became an internet hit, due to its unique video featuring the legendary John Shuttleworth – as the man with the sausage roll thumb.
TLE have played at string of shows at SXSW in Texas, (where they also recorded with Jad Fair) and have supported Shonen Knife, The Slits and Television Personalities.
A section of their song ‘I’m a Journalist’ appears on the new Scroobius Pip track ‘Death of The Journalist’; the sample was used in a beat created by Zane Lowe.
The Lovely Eggs have recently been in the studio with Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals who has produced their next 7″, due for release on the Too Pure Singles Club in December.
