“Upstairs” is a mid-tempo clanger with a nice techno feel but is also chained to a quirky organic groove. The technique captures the attention as the track builds to a psychedelic breakdown that bends the traditions of music. It’s daring, partly experimental, and a perfect addition to a sprawling psy chill afterhours set.
“Land Forms” explores Wirik’s ongoing obsession with post dubstep sounds and the possibility of musical exchange between bass and techno. The result is part Detroit and part Bristol and highly futuristic with jarring sounds and crisp production.
Born in Mexico City, Wirik began his studies as a musician and jazz guitar classified. His biggest influences has been Paco de Lucia, Victor Wooten, and Ozric Tentacles. was tired of working on projects with people who were not really committed and did not feel the same passion for this art and in the UK was where he really understood how it could combine the sound of guitar with electronic music. In Canada, with a group of Mexican electronic musicians, he had the opportunity to perfect this project in early 2010.
