The Juliets to release second LP

| On 07, Sep 2011

Are you getting tired of hearing too many lo-fi, barely audible recordings? If so, The Juliets promise to offer you something quite special with their sophomore LP, Perfect Season . The LP will be released on September 17th , immediately after they leave the stage after their set at Mi-Fest alongside The Raconteurs and Jeff The Brotherhood. Having caught attention with their previous self titled album, this classically-leaning pop quintet have been really etching themselves into wider consciousness, having fronted a Made In Detroit’ campaign for car giant Chrysler and sharing the stage with artists like Jack White and Black Milk. Perfect Season promises to be a feast of sound for lovers of artistic pop. The Juliets utilise orchestral instruments in a way that few other bands do. One reviewer defined the band’s characteristic sound as “ baroque with backbone ”, and that is spot on.

The album is driven by a stunning cocktail of sound. From the urgent, driving Heart In Heart to the hypnotic and sugar-sweet LOON, the album is an eclectic thrill-ride band  driven by   Frontman Jermey Freer’s intricate guitar, a bombastic piano and  soaring pop vocals perfectly complimented by the classical duo of cellist Kaylan Mitchell and violinist/vocalist Sarah Myers . Both classically trained, Mitchell and Myers add the baroque to the equation,  representing a fusion of a far reaching bunch of influences ranging from Johannes Brahms and Dr. Dre in their string arrangements.  The backbone of the band is supplied by bassist Ashton Hopkins and drummer Jaclyn Phillips . Tastes of the macabre can be felt in Hopkins’ enchanting bass lines and Phillips thunderous drumming. Their explosive yet sophisticated rhythms are essential to the band’s onstage presence and sound.

This is an album that you will fall in love with. Songs with a beating heart and edgy undertones decorated in classical musicianship make for a special listen. This band are going places quickly. September 17th will see the release of Perfect Season, something truly unlike anything else this year.
