RELEASE DATE: September 15th, 2011
Emerging Toronto via Brooklyn duo Elextra and Chicaiza team up to launch a memorable debut single for the panglobal Anusual label entitled “Instead Of One, Two”. Featuring remixes from Lee Webster and Tambourine Man, this is funky midtempo vocal house just the way you like it – sleazy.
The original features an excellent vocal and a chunky deep house feel with just the right amount of tasteful retro influences to give this track a very now sound. Newcomer Tambourine Man takes things even deeper with chilled pads and a slight broken beat influence that is quite unique and memorable. Strong melodies abound on this remix. Hot Spanish producer Lee Webster closes the package with a very nice dance floor filler that features superb percussion work and a wonderfully deep, afterhours vibe.
TRACKLISTING:
01 Instead of One, Two (Original Mix)
02 Instead of One, Two (Tambourine Man Remix)
03 Instead of One, Two (Lee Webster Paradise Mix)
ABOUT ELEXTRA:
Elextra is a Toronto based duo that hails from Colombia. The pair, comprised of members Cosmic JD & Lulo, have created an unrivalled retro-futuristic sound that can activate a dance floor and aggrandize the souls of listeners. Elextra originated in Brooklyn NY in 2008, when Lulo and Automatik (another New York based musician) explored new frontiers of eclectic and nostalgic urban rhythms. From dub to breaks and reggae, the two musicians were able to collectively breathe life into a contemporary sound. Enter Cosmic JD, with his electronic and dance floor oriented method that included fusions of deep house and downtempo. The three musicians combined their unique approaches to music to create a truly exceptional harmony. Elextra was born. The manifestation that grew out of this collaboration found the group submerged in the underground music and art scene in New York. Embraced by devotees of the underground scene the group held performances at venues such as the Queens Museum of Art and The Lake in Brooklyn.
In 2010, Cosmic JD and Lulo moved to Toronto, Canada and found themselves amidst a hurriedly evolving electronic music scene that continues to gain recognition in an international arena. The dynamic sound created by the duo features retro-electronic grooves, organically blended with analog elements such as guitar, vocals and synthesizers. Their debut single, “Instead of One, Two EP” will be released on the label Anusual Records in September of this year. True artists, the pair are constantly working on evolving the already unparalleled sound that they developed years ago in Brooklyn. They are currently in the studio working on a full length album that is set to include drops of electronica, deep house and late-night psychedelia.
The horizon is ablaze for this emerging and innovative Toronto based talent. Inspired by the very essence of sound Elextra’s goal is simple; to spread their love and vibes to those like minded souls seeking the perfect feel-good momentum. Indeed the vibe that the pair have created invades the very core of the listener and forces an automatic self-release from the mundane repetitiveness of the everyday. From unique productions to electric live performances, Elextra is a musical experience not to be missed.
