Nice beats with beautiful vocals.
Intro! Ups and Downs – this is a nice opening song the starts with a brass and a vinyl effect being used. Then there is a violin being plugged and a flout is being nicely accompanied. The lyrics are about the “Ups and Downs” in live and the vocals sound really raw. The orchestral feel is really nice for an opening song. “High Maintenance” this song starts off with a xylophone effect, which is accompanied with some nice funky drums. Then the vocals come in which fit in well in the song. The sliding guitar is really nice also. This song tells about if you do drugs you need it again and that becomes high maintenance due to the money involved for supplying the stuff. “Unusual featuring Joe Budden” this song starts off with some nice vocals “featuring Joe Budden” being sung and accompanied with some nice piano chords being played. Then a violin and drums come in to complete the song. This song is about unusual things happening that are usual. Some nice effects used towards the end and what a nice guitar solo. “Danger Bay” this song has starts off with the effects ended in the previous song. Then quickly some nice piano chords are being played with some nice vocals. The overall mood is about what bad people do and its consequences. The drums and the brass make that really realistic and the hip hop seal is the scratching that is happening. “Stay Cool” the song starts with some nice electric chords being played which have some nice reverb on them. The drums and vocals fit very nicely together. This song is about not doing much and enjoying every moment in this beautiful world. “Passion” this song starts with a crowd yelling. Then the song kicks off with the funky drum beat known in another song. The beat is accompanied with some nice brass, violins, vocals and nice guitar licks. The song sounds that what people do for passion they run all over just to be there, be here. Towards the end there is a bridge which changes the tempo that concludes a great song. “Maybe It’s Just Me featuring Brother Ali” the song starts off with a nice flute and accompanied with bongos. The vocals are also nice especially “featuring Brother Ali” The synthesised bass line sounds really nice. It’s about when someone feels something, but nobody agrees.
“Young Soul” this song starts off with some nice guitar licks. The vocals are really nice also, which are accompanied by some nice funky drums. The violin and the piano complete the song. This song is about young people not knowing what they do next. “Run With Me” this song starts with a live feel to the song. There is a dirty electric guitar being played which is accompanied with some nice funky drum beats. There is also a piano being plaid. The vocals are really nice, because they fit well with rest of the band. This song sounds like it would be played in a arena in Philadelphia. This song is about running together with other people and not caring about the consequences. “The Day Doesn’t Die” the song starts off with some nice guitar chords being played. They accompanied with some nice vocals and powerful lyrics. Drums come in the song sounds different than the previous songs this is a nice addition and depth to the album. The song takes tempo towards the end, because there is a rock organ and electric guitar lick. The bridge sounds nice and especially the guitar solo. The song is about loving each other and how people should always hang to each others. “They Don’t Know featuring Mike Boyd and White Mig” this song starts off with a nice bass line which is accompanied with drums. The guitar effects are also nice. The vocals are really something special in this song. They have lots of depth to them especially “featuring Mike Boyd and White Mig”. Towards the end there is an acoustic guitar being played which is a great little bridge. This song is about what people not know but others do know. “Step It Up” starts off with an Indian feel. This is created with a tambourine and the right drums being played. The guitar is grate and so is also the piano. This song is about what people have to do nowadays to be someone in the music business. It’s about stepping up the game. The end is really nice, because it sounds like an old vinyl from the 50’s effect they have used. “Desensitized” the song starts off with a recorded message being played back. The point is to listen with good speakers, because then the drums come in which are accompanied with some heavy bass. The brass is also good, because that fits well to give the high noise in this song. Also the xylophone and the flute sound nice grate. “The Hangover featuring Kayo and Jim Cuddy From Blue Rodeo” starts off with nice bongos. Then futuristic synthesisers come in and they make the song give some nice depth. The vocals “featuring Kayo and Jim Cuddy From Blue Rodeo” also make it sound like a nice after party to what a nice party was. No mater what happened you get over it.
