Treetop Flyers release their new single ‘It’s About Time’ through Communion Records on 18th September.

Self-produced at Courtyard Studios, Oxfordshire, the single was recorded by Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Band Of Skulls) and features the b-side ‘Become A Stranger’.

The band, who recently won Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent competition, will hold a single launch party at London’s Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on 19th September. Their debut single ‘Things Will Change’, which came out through Communion Records in May, enjoyed considerable airplay on 6 Music, XFM, Absolute and spot plays on Radio1 and Radio2.

“’Country-Soul’ is about right,” reckons Reid Morrison of Treetop Flyers, whose beautifully tangled roots soak up a timeless musical current. “We’re not full-on Country or Soul. Our songs have a harder edge and embrace a more contemporary sound. Our influences range from Van Morrison and Neil Young to Ronnie Lane and The Coral. We have this cauldron and we put all those influences and others in”.

Formed in 2009 and based in West London, all five members have been in bands before: Reid fronted the country-skiffle group Morrison Steam Fayre. American ex-pat Tomer was part of New York City’s Robbers On High Street, who regularly toured with The National, Killers and Interpol. Guitarist Sam Beer, who is also a gifted artist and painter, was a well-known solo act on the London circuit. Bassist Matthew Starritt used to play in tropical punk outfit Rum Shebeen and guitarist Laurie Sherman, once a semi-professional skateboarder, was involved with respected country combo The Barker Band.

Admired by the likes of Adele, who’s a fan of Reid’s voice, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons and Guillemots, the band have been regular fixtures at Communion and Blue Flowers club nights. Their compelling live performances have earned them a devoted and burgeoning fan base, which recently led to a sold out Borderline show. Appearances at this year’s Glastonbury and Hop Farm festivals saw Treetop Flyers playing to packed-out tents, earning them plaudits from, amongst others, The Times and The Independent, who credited them as “festival highlights”.

Treetop Flyers are currently working on their debut album, which is set for release early next year.
