The Wolfmen – Married to the Eiffel Tower

This is the second album from 5 piece rock band The Wolfmen who received critical acclaim after releasing their first album Modernity Killed Every Night. There has been a lot of hype surrounding The Wolfmen and this latest release which has been praised by Jonathan Ross and Mark Lamar and after listening to the quality of the song writing and the overall polished production I am not surprised.
The majority of the songs on this album are feel-good, cheery songs. ‘Jackie, Is It My Birthday?’ is an addictive song that won instant radio airplay and features vocals from Irish songstress Sinead O Connor who adds a dreamy, psychedelic feel to this pop-rock song.
‘Mr Sunday’ is an upbeat, energetic and warm song, ‘Marilyn Monroe (Wam Bam JFK)’ is a cheeky tune an instantly likeable thanks to the familiar song structure, guitar riffs and a chorus that you can catch on to immediately. Coca-Cola Kid is one of my favourites- from the guitar riffs, the cool drum beat and the unique lyrics this song simply works.
This album follows a tried and tested formula- catchy rock songs with a slight pop vibe that you can easily imagine being played at a festival crowd in the Summer. Overall a great record and one I know I will listen to again.
