Miss Frost Single by thewildmercurysound
This Autumn marks the release of ‘Miss Frost’, the debut single from London-based four piece The Wild Mercury Sound.

With no member older than 19 years old, ‘Miss Frost’ signals a skill and sophistication way beyond their years. Produced by Peter Miles (The King Blues, We Are The Ocean, Dry The River), fans of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Jane’s Addiction and Smashing Pumpkins should find much to like.

Written on Christmas day about “a bizarre relationship with an ex-girlfriend” of lead singer/guitarist Benji Compston, ‘Miss Frost’ has audible energy, fire and ambition, which sets the band apart from other newcomers.

The equally strong b side ‘Itchy Skin’, with its PJ Harvey-esque guitars, was written about a friend of Benji’s who had to go cold turkey. The nervy physicality of the subject matter is captured perfectly by the band. “We wanted it to have that kind of raw, sharp and slightly uncomfortable sound”, says Benji – something they’ve definitely achieved.

With myriad consummately written songs already in their artillery, TWMS are a serious band to watch who have a long, illustrious career ahead of them.

Prior to any release, a recent gig was earmarked by the NME as one of their ‘unmissable new music shows of the week’, plus they’ve been raved about by Gills Mills on ‘Best of MySpace’.

TWMS are playing dates across Europe and have recently sold out gigs at the Barfly, Proud and The Garage. They’re currently recording their second single plus debut album, due for release next year. Catch their seriously on-fire live shows from August during their national tour, which will also continue through September, October and November (more dates TBA).

The Wild Mercury Sound are Ashley Cooper (drums), Benji Compston (vocals, guitar), Johnny Lillis Guitar and Jonny Allan (bass).
