KRAAK & SMAAK – Let’s Go Back (featuring Romanthony)

| On 21, Aug 2011

Let’s Go Back comes from the third album by this Dutch electro-funk trio Kraak & Smaak. Their 12 track Electric Hustle was released in April, 2011 on Jalapeno Records. It follows the previous releases Boogie Angst (2005) and Plastic People (2008). Their leanings squeeze in many different genres: dance, house, nu-disco, italo-disco, old disco and soul.

On this Let’s Go Back 6 track remix, internationally released on August 29th, they’re joined by iconic new singer and songwriter Romanthony. His powerful, emotive and distinctive voice works in close harmony with the instruments. Dutch producers Chocolate Puma contribute some distinctive sounds and techno producer Solomun adds minimalism.

They’re catchy, toe tapping, optimistic remixes which are inviting, though possibly a little too smooth. Synthesisers combine with lounge jazz piano chords and an addictive rhythm. There’s a great deal of vitality.  This is electronica with both a traditional and contemporary feel. Predictably, it’s likely to be popular in warm summer clubs where people are eager to chill.
