The Don’t Buy The Sun Concert, In Memory Of James McVey
Fazakerley 9, The Hillsborough Justice Campaign and Liverpool Sound City are proud to present the Don’t Buy The Sun Concert, in memory of James McVey – an event to celebrate the life of James, the 18 year-old Liverpool FC fan who tragically died after being set upon at a party in Walton on October 9th, 2010 and the ninety-six Liverpool FC fans who died at the Hillsborough disaster in April 1989.
Taking place at Liverpool Olympia on September 24th, from 7pm, the concert is both a celebration of James’s life and those of the ninety-six and a timely reminder of the continued boycott of The Sun newspaper by the people of Merseyside and beyond as a result of their false claims in the aftermath of the Hillsborough tragedy – a cause that has united both the red and blue halves of the city.
Supported by the best new talent in Liverpool, alongside some of the city’s most legendary artists, the line-up features The Farm, Ian Broudie, Sound Of Guns, Pete Wylie, Ian Prowse and Digsy, with some very, very special guests. On the night there will also be a speech from Tom Watson MP.
Tickets are available now via the Liverpool Olympia website, priced £15. All proceeds will go to Fazakerley 9 Charity in memory of James McVey. The money will be used to go towards turning a local park into a bright new community and sports area for young people from Walton, Liverpool.
