Following on from the release of recent singles ‘Gay Pirates’ and ‘Sure As Hell Not Jesus’, the one man creative maestro that is Cosmo Jarvis is set to release his sophomore album ‘Is The World Strange or Am I Strange?’ on 26th September. Featuring the two aforementioned singles – two of the most potent examples of Cosmo’s infectious and inimitable character to date – the album is awash with every trait and affable nuance that has seen Cosmo being heralded as one of the most special talents around by everyone from Brian Eno to Stephen Fry.  ‘Is The World Strange or Am I Strange?’ is sure-fire proof that those words have not been mislaid and encapsulates all of the peerless musical traits that have seen Cosmo’s rise to date.

The story of his new album goes back as far as even the young man himself can remember. Writing his first songs from a very early age – ‘Blame It On Me’, the albums saloon-door swinging second track was written when he was just thirteen years old –Cosmo Harrison Krikoryan Jarvis had always wanted to thrive in his impassioned visions for both music and film. ‘Is The World Strange..’ is not only his second album in the same space of years – a fine display of his relentlessly prolific nature – but it acts as a perfectly formed composition of everything that has made his career so far so revered.

The album in its entirety plays on each and every one of Cosmo’s unique strengths faultlessly. Whether he’s playing along with his own confusion in the somehow self-assured, melancholic rap of the album’s retrospective title track, ripping all of his ferocity out towards modern culture in ‘My Day’ or flying off the handle and twisting nearly every genre under the sun into one, epic closer with the bittersweet tale of lust that is ‘What’s Wrong With Betty?’, the album is proof that his talents stretch far beyond any implications of singer-songwriter that could so easily be thrown his way. At once a poet, multi-instrumentalist and auteur (his YouTube channel alone has crossed the one million views mark and is littered with his own short films and self-directed videos), there is something here to be cherished by everyone. Recorders are found jauntily swaying in amongst the tender moments, guitar solos are effortless; ukuleles plucked with an insatiable charm – Cosmo leaves no stone unturned when it comes to his musical mastery.

Such demonstrations of ubiquitous talent display a young man belying even his own admitted musical immaturity and create an album of brutally honest substance. And while his talents are there for all to see, it’s the emphasis throughout on his lyrical potency that allows him to shine at his brightest. The title of the album itself gives away a sense that Cosmo’s worldview is slowly metamorphosing with the sort of common confusion that is universally understood. Cosmo’s innate ability to weld poetic imagery proves to be second to none and instantly recognisable, whether he’s spinning tales of besmirched love on pirate ships (‘Gay Pirates’), introducing the taboo of the perfect girl to his parents (‘She Doesn’t Mind’) or casually offering his best advice for house party debauchery (‘Dave’s House’), his cadence is undeterred, unfaltering and completely mesmerising.

These ingredients are hard to find, let alone mix together and create such a sumptuous and addictive recipe. But that’s what Cosmo Jarvis prospers at – he is the perfect image of the modern day ‘One Man Band’. ‘Is The World Strange or Am I Strange?’is sure to affirm that very appropriate status.

The album will be available as standard and special edition digital downloads as well as alongside both standard and special edition CD formats, with a special edition digipak containing a DVD of eighteen of Cosmo Jarvis’ short films.
