Zombies – A Moment In Time

The Zombies, formed in 1961, are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with an album of entirely new material, Breathe Out, Breathe In. It’s credited to Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent, the two remaining original members.
The band’s touring line-up now includes guitarist Tom Toomey, bassist Jim Rodford and his son Steve Rodford on drums.
A Moment In Time, a highlight to the album, was written in the last week of recording. With good melodies and rich, layered harmonies, it was inspired by Laurie Lee’s excellently written Spanish Civil War memoir A Moment Of War, in which we explore the idea that passing moments have long term effects, though we may not be aware of them at the time.
The song has a flamenco feel and is much in the style of the album Odessey and Oracle, regarded by many as a sixties psychedelic and progressive masterpiece. With great energy and enthusiasm they re- capture some of the tone of this era and it shows their old brilliance shining through.
The Zombies website clarifies that A Moment In Time had three writers: Rod Argent, Tom Toomey and Gordon Giltrap.
The second part of their UK tour will start on 17th November, 2011 at The Arc, Stockton and will finish at the University of Kent, Canterbury on 2nd December, 2011.
