SINGLE – ‘THE GIRL WHO BROKE IN TWO’
RELEASED 29 AUGUST
Introducing Paul Freeman, a singer songwriter from Newport, South Wales, whose UK debut single ‘The Girl Who Broke In Two’ is released on 22 August 2011 through Universal Estupendo Records. His debut album will follow this in 2012.
Freeman’s songs suggest a natural talent for word craft and poetry, giving his music a depth beyond his years. ‘The Girl Who Broke In Two’, is a perfectly crafted, beautifully arranged ballad, in Paul’s words,
“It’s a deeply personal song to me, which I wrote a couple of years ago about the loss of a former girlfriend. Writing the song gave me a lot of comfort and helped me to deal with this loss, I’m proud to have this song to remember her by.”
Inspired at an early age by his parents’ record collection (The Beatles, T-Rex, Wings) and named after Paul McCartney, Freeman’s journey with music began through his discovery of these classic artists before being turned on to Britpop, namely Oasis, and their song ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’. Leaving school to move to London he swiftly got his feet in the door of a recording studio and as a result, was taken under the wing of Heavenly Records founder Jeff Barrett. His songwriting skills developing quickly, Freeman found himself soon working with a post Take That Mark Owen, before his move to LA garnered even more opportunities, not just through lending his guitar skills to artists such as Shania Twain but also tour slots with Todd Rundgren and Joe Cocker. Now on the road in the UK supporting Roger Daltrey, the time has come to bring his incredible talent back home.
