Having heard the hype surrounding electro-punk duo Sleigh Bells, I couldn’t wait to wrap my ears around their new release. Kids blends heavily produced vocals with over-drive synths and sporadically placed teenage conversation samples.

Whilst Sleigh Bells have clearly tried to create something exciting and original with this release, I found the combination of heavy synths and samples to be an over-kill. If the song were any longer, the whiney sounds of “Wait, did I forget my sunglasses?’ would definitely start to grate but thankfully the track lasts under three minutes.

Whilst Sleigh Bells have created a host of great and original tracks on their album Treats, I don’t think Kids showcases the duo’s abilities.
