Ronnie Spector Amy Winehouse Charity Single Out Now
Late last week RollingStone.com broke the news that rock icon and ‘Girl Group’ trailblazer Ronnie Spector would release a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Today marks the release of her wistful rendition of Winehouse breakthrough “Back To Black” at all digital retailers. Proceeds from the single will be donated to Daytop Village, a NYC-based substance abuse center handpicked by Spector herself. Produced by Richard Gottehrer, a pioneer in his own right, the track recasts Winehouse’s smoky soul as haunting disco, allowing Spector to pay her respects with one of her most striking vocals in recent memory.
Aside from the heartfelt “in her words” piece that accompanied the RollingStone.com premiere of the track, Spector recently spoke to AOL Music about her memories of Amy. Listen to the single and read more about the track at the link below.
