You can now see Dave Depper performing ‘Too Many People’, the opening track from ‘The Ram Project’, in Portland, Oregon. Featuring members of Musee Mecanique and vocalist Joan Hiller, the show saw them perform ‘The Ram Project’ in its entirety earlier this year at The Doug Fir.
In 2010, Depper decided to do something he has always wanted to do: complete a solo project. Having worked with other internationally successful artists that include the likes of The Decemberists, Mirah and the aforementioned Musee Mecanique, he thought it was about time he did something for himself, by himself.
Having often been distracted by other projects and collaborations in the past he had failed to complete any of his own solo work, so set himself a goal, and that goal was to re-record Paul McCartney’s 1971 album ‘Ram’ in only a month.
Initially only intended to be a personal venture, ‘The Ram Project’ soon became much more than that. Catching the attention of Portland’s Jackpot Records along with Berlin’s legendary City Slang, the local press took interest and the rest as they say, is history. ‘The Ram Project’ is released on August 22nd on City Slang.
