The Talk @ The Plug

Sheffield, 2nd july
Playing in the intimate setting of The Plug’s second room, The Talk headlined the bill tonight supported by fellow indie Sheffielders The Citrus Lines. Catching the end of The Citrus Lines’ set, the band sounded confident delivering some conventionally sounding guitar indie.
The Talk was up next, promoting their forthcoming album Have You Heard..? after recently being signed by a indie label Native Records. For their age, The Talk put on an impressive live show. The band are clearly aware of their intimate surrounding of The Plug’s smaller room, however this doesn’t stop them from showcasing just the right amount of charisma and banter with the crowd. The Talk played a mixture of new tracks and some older tracks dating back to their 2009 formation. Although the band has grown substantially since then, songs like Thats What You Get still sound strong. The new material stayed true to the bands original sound too, which is always a bonus as new record label deals can often spell disaster for a bands sound and image.
The band might be young, but their song writing ability and solid live performance mean that they are well worth watching. The 4 piece band manage to effortlessly craft their songs and if their upcoming album is anything like their last releases, it’ll be a worthy addition to any indie fans collection.
