The Voluntary Butler Scheme – Grandad Galaxy

| On 17, Jul 2011

This album called “The Grandad Galaxy” by “THE VOLUNTARY BUTLER SCHEME” which is really different at times and it has two major themes which is nice. It has lots of depth. starts out with a nice song “Astro” The song starts out with a nice vocals that use a telephone effect. The keyboard is also nice and it really fits. When the drums come in they complete the song, but when the electric guitar comes in it’s like an icing on the cake. Unexpectedly the song changes halve way, which is actually really nice change. Overall it grabs the listeners attention and it’s a great album opener with a closing jam at the end. “D.O.P.I.” This song starts of with a nice melodic synthesizer. It then gets a beat with some nice fills with an electric drums set. This song sounds like in a video game. The melody though grabs the listener to another level. This is actually really nice it’s a nice chilled out tune. “Do The Hand Jive” This song starts out with some powerful looped vocals. The song sound like a indie tune in a video game. The theme of the previous came is in this one which sounds nice. “Don’t Rely On It, Don’t Count On It” This song starts with a radio effect which is a cool way to start. This song sounds like a modern indie version of the Beatels. This sounds if they played indie surf music from california with a touch of modern indie. “Empty Hand” This song starts of with a lullaby style sound in a modern way, which is achieved through drums. The vocals are really touching which is nice actually.

“Hiring A Car” This song starts of again with a lullaby, but this sounds like someone playing pinball at times. The beat is also really nice accompanying in the background. The lullaby changes with its accompanying beat and the atmosphere changes. The listener is brought into another dimension. “Manuals” This song has some nice vocals. This bring the listener with the strings into a trance. It sounds like a story is being tolled. This is a nice song, because its different than the other ones than the previous ones. The electric drums that have a massive reverb bring the listener into the trance. “Phosphor Burn-In” This song starts of really with some nice vocals that have a nice accompanying drum beat. The song changes at times into a really nice and different way. The effects that are being products are really different and they give some more depth to the song. The song though comes back into the verse where the voice sings. This is a song that has really allot of difference to it. It is a song that makes you think and the orchestra is really nice and different, but it completes the song. “Pow” This is an instrumental song. It sounds like the lullaby is the voice. Its actually really nice. It gives the album a new different depth to it. The base line is also lovely.

“Satisfactory Substitute” This song starts of really different. It uses sounds that have not been used before in the previous songs. The song sounds a bit indian oriented, due to the start. The voice is also really nicely sampled. “Shake Me By The Shoulders” This is still my favorite style of music. The surf Californian style with a touch of modern indie. The Beatels are back in my imagination. Thanks “THE VOLUNTARY BUTLER SCHEME”

“Sky Shed” The last song ends end it gets faded into this song which is nice. It sounds again a bit like a Beatels comeback, but this time with the experimental influence. Its actually really nice. The lead is really chatty, I love it. “Stone” This is really a nice song and it fits in this theme they have. The effects they use are exactly how they should be and its really catchy. The guitar lead is really nice also. “To The Height Of A Frisbee” The song is really catchy. The guitar and bass lines are really catchy. The vocals use a nice telephone effect, which makes the song again a summer tune at the beach.

“Umbrella Fight” This is a nice song. The song uses a really nice experimental theme to it. Its really sweet modern sound. Its weird, but this is how I imagine umbrellas fighting. Its a nice song to end a really good album. Overall the album is really nice and cathy.
