WE COULDN’T EVEN IF WE WANTED TO: TARAS VAN DE VOORDE AND BORIS ROSS – DON’T STOP US

History in the making. Rotterdam’s finest are joining forces for the first time, unleashing an unstoppable creative force and insisting that the dance culture mavens pay attention.

House track Don’t Stop Us is co-created by Taras Van De Voorde and Boris Ross and is a Monique Musique release. Whilst Ross made his mark on Van De Voorde’s epic 2010 release Sometimes with a well-received remix, this is the first time the pair have worked together on an original release. The result is a dynamic track not without its deeper moments and full of warmth.

All signs point to a summer smash. Don’t Stop Us has balmy evening beats all wrapped up, yet there’s ferocity in the track’s climax that takes the listener by pleasant surprise. The vocal sample is impeccably manipulated and the overall production values are flawless. The Surrealism remix is a pared down affair. It has a dreamy quality that makes its name seem wholly appropriate. Both Pete Tong/BBC Radio One and Dennis Ruyer/Radio 538 got the worldwide premiere of the track in their famous shows.

Clearly Van De Voorde and Ross is a combination that works. More please.

Individually their achievements are nothing to be sniffed at either. Both are proud of their ability to defy expectations and are forging successful careers on their own terms.

Taras Van De Voorde is a DJ and producer with a well-deserved international reputation. He has booked big success with the dance floor killer hit 1998 and his recently released track The Game. Both tracks were, just like this release, picked up by BBC Radio One DJ Pete Tong and given playlist spots in his renowned show. Van De Voorde played at major festivals and clubs in Europe and is known for his ability to whip up a crowd. His style is constantly evolving, with recent productions having a more spacious feel.

Boris Ross’ first release Fusion was a big success and got signed to the famous Timewarp compilation CD. The track also received massive support from Loco Dice. Last year Ross was discovered by the creator of the Vengaboys and Radio 538, Wessel Van Diepen, who has signed his alter ego project Pop On Acid to his management. A popstar producer in the making, Ross’ star is most certainly ascending right now.

Together the duo have demonstrated a capacity for beat creation that is a genuine pleasure to consume.
