“They look mean, they look moody, but are they magnificent? (Clue: Yes. Yes, they really are.)” The Crack
“These Lads will blow up the music scene” The Ruckus
July 11th sees the release of the eagerly anticipated debut release from hotly tipped Durham 4 piece The Castells.
On the North East’s thriving band scene, The Castells are lauded for the their high energy live shows which exude passion and heart. This coupled with Sam Reynolds’ distinctive and very unique vocal led them to a lot of early column inches and shows with the likes of Frankie and The Heartstrings and The Chapman Family.

Local radio (Amazing Radio , Spark FM , Metro FM) took note also . The initial plays and interviews on these stations would be a precursor to National radio success. Speaking of which, Fearne Cotton, after hearing demos of Romance and other tracks personally invited them to Maida Vale to record a BBC Introducing session for her daytime show. The session aired in Late March and was a big hit. Instantly adding more fans to their ever-growing army plus they also picked up two more very influential fans at the BBC.
Huw Stephens played Romance and included it on his weekly podcast and 6 Music’ Tom Robinson came on board too. National radio play and a number of pieces in influential blogs added to the sense of break through. Not to mention shows at The Great Escape and Festifeel with the likes of Noah and The Whale, Summer Camp and Little Comets. What better time to release the single that has catapulted them to the top of the hottest unsigned bands list?
