The Rudiments – Doctor Bone’s Fried Medicine

| On 20, Jun 2011

It’s practically impossible not to recognize american reggae and ska-punk music.
It has this different sound, as if freedom belongs to it and you can’t do anything about it.
Doctor Bone’s Friend Medicine by The Rudiments is one of the simplest example I could give you of these genres. You won’t hear noise without a precise aim, you won’t hear words without a meaning; everything is perfectly partitioned, from the first, sort of pondering track “For the simpler times”, to the last calming, sweet one “The last hero of Switzerland”.
All the lyrics tell stories about travels, doctors, loneliness, advices, love and escapes from this boring sameness we all share, you just have to listen to them and agree.
“Tetley Tea (Set You Free)” is the climax of it all, the one track to whom you’ll stand up from where you’re at and just go, swinging through the notes of the last song of this well-assorted album.
Share the moment with those ones you’d like to travel with, listen to this album all together.
Some music needs to be listened in a car, with the wind going through the hand of yours that lops outside the window; that way you’ll really understand what you’re hearing.
