Circus: Saturday 25th June @ The Masque, Liverpool
aaamusic | On 17, Jun 2011
Before taking a breather from The Masque, Circus’ spiritual home, there’s one last session to savour which features some of the club’s key residents taking over on Saturday 25th June, starring Yousef, Lewis Boardman and Scott Lewis and limited to just 400 tickets.
After a blistering run of incredible shows, each surpassing the last in terms of scale and ambition, Circus remains one of the world’s best electronic music parties. In the last few months in Liverpool Cocoon returned with Sven Vath in November, Laurent Garnier’s LBS landed in Jan, Carl Cox and Luciano played in the spring and the recent May bank holiday party with Sasha was pure classis Circus; and don’t forget debuts from Paul Kalkbrenner, Seth Troxler and Dennis Ferrer and many others too.
So with the Circus 9th birthday set for September, there’s this last chance to witness the Funktion-One powered Theatre space in full flow for a good few weeks, helmed from start to finish by its esteemed residents. It’s a rare chance to see those who fashion the club’s music manifesto giving a truly great music environment a real workout.
Yousef is Circus’ founding father, its first resident and driving force. In recent years his work ethic has risen exponentially, with a debut artist album, an evolving Space Ibiza residency and gigs all over the world. In 2011 Yousef has already released his Circus Reworks EP with Four Tet’s Love Cry heralded in Beatport’s top ten “Must Have Tracks”, and he is soon to drop his much-anticipated 2nd artist album too.
Lewis Boardman has just released a brilliant new EP on Souvenir Music with support from Tiefschwarz, Reboot, Loco Dice, following on from releases on NRK and also remixing Nina Kraviz. He remains an integral part of the club’s foundations, segueing through electronica’s myriad forms. Scott Lewis had the Ink crowd rocking from start to finish during his peerless 5-hour set at the end of May, demonstrating his versatility and party-rocking abilities. Expect more of the same on Sat 25th June.
This is a rare chance to witness these three DJs taking over The Masque’s Theatre space. Don’t miss this last chance to party in The Masque at Circus until September!
