Music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins have today launched a brand new initiative for the 2011 O2 Silver Clef Awards with Ticketmaster, to find the UK’s “Best Live Act” through a public vote in association with Absolute Radio, Evening Standard and O2.

Multi-million selling arena and stadium acts including Green Day, Paul McCartney, Muse, Jay-Z, Bon Jovi, Korn, P!nk and Black Eyed Peas all feature on a Top 30 List from which the public will vote for their “Best Live Act”. This list has been drawn up by Ticketmaster based on customer reviews of all live music shows from the last 12 months. The winning artistwill be announced by Absolute Radio Hometime host Geoff Lloyd at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards, which take place in London on Friday 1 July.

David Munns, Chairman of Nordoff Robbins said, “Music is incredibly powerful. At Nordoff Robbins, we use music to transform the lives of many thousands of people.

“We want the public to tell us about a gig that’s transformed their life in the last 12 months. From Biffy Clyro to Muse, Stevie Wonder and many in between, we’re looking for the best live act of the last 12 months.”

Everyone who votes will get the chance to win one of four amazing prizes – £500 Ticketmaster Gift Cards, 4 x VIP tickets to a gig of your choice at The O2 London, a one-off engraved iPhone 4, or two tickets to the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards on 1st July, where the winner will rub shoulders with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Liza Minnelli, Biffy Clyro, Status Quo and Annie Lennox, all of whom will be collecting awards on the day.

Voting for the Nordoff Robbins “Best Live Act” kicks off TODAY (Thursday 16 June) on www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk – so get voting! The vote closes at midnight on Monday 27 June.

Music charity Nordoff Robbins uses music to transform the lives of people of all ages all over the UK. Supported heavily by the music indutry, where they are the charity of choice at the BRITs and the MITs, they provide over 45,000 music therapy sessions annually in a variety of settings across the UK including schools, day centres, hospitals and care homes, in addition to their main centre and units.

The annual Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards Lunch, which began in 1975, is now the jewel in the charity’s fundraising crown and a highlight of the UK music industry’s calendar. Sponsored by O2 for the past nine years, and now in its 36th year, the event has raised over £8 million for Nordoff Robbins since its inception. Winners so far announced for the 2011 Silver Clef Awards are Tinie Tempah (TAG Design & Interactive: Best Newcomer award), Alfie Boe (PPL Classical Award), Biffy Clyro (Royal Albert Hall Best British Band), Status Quo (Sony Ericsson Lifetime Achievement) Liza Minnelli (Investec Icon Award) and Annie Lennox (O2 Silver Clef Award).
