Shibuya Crossings – DOYA (Depend On Your Alter-Ego)

So, to say the return of Shibuya Crossings has been long anticipated might be a bit of a stretch. In fact if this name means nothing at all to you, you can be forgiven. Even the most avid indie fan with a finger constantly on-the-pulse of the latest music may have missed the release of their debut album Songs For Lovesick Teenagers which passed by in a wave of anonymity in 2007. However, for those of you with a passion for a mild, youthful sounding indie pop, this is a name you should certainly become acquainted with, and their follow up release DOYA is undoubtedly worth a listen.
The successful equilibrium of vocals and guitars create the catchy hooks that drive the record, with stand out tunes including At Eight in a Spanish Bar and Gamla Stan. The band has achieved great continuity with the record with a natural flow between tunes.
This is a great indie record that I suspect would only get better in a live environment.
