Paul Thomas Saunders’ darkly whimsical, introspective lyrics and fragile, distinctive vocals are at odds with his young age. The reverb-soaked guitars and softly stroked drums that build dramatically on his live sets – with backing band The Fever Dreams – are at odds with the shy, elusive figure Paul Thomas Saunders cuts on stage. Live – as he is on record –Paul Thomas Saunders is an artist both charmingly captivating and alluringly enigmatic.
Paul Thomas Saunders hails from Leeds. In 2010 he opened for Leeds Live Festival and the huge crowd he pulled and his subsequent monopolizing of the live coverage meant he returned this April to a prime late spot. These appearances, plus support slots with Villagers, Blue Roses, Low, Patrick Watson (to name a few) and the self-release of his debut EP ‘Four Songs in Twilight’ secured a following rising over and above his huge hometown fan- base and into the realms of the blogosphere. All culminating in Paul Thomas Saunders tracks appearing on compilation releases from influential indie labels Dance to the Radio and Dead Young Records.
Now Paul Thomas Saunders is set to release the ‘Lilac and Wisteria’ EP and also lead track ‘Appointment in Samara’ as a single on Monday 4th July. Both on RT60.
Paul Thomas Saunders will be playing a very special and intimate EP Launch Show at a secret Leeds location on Saturday 2nd June.
