Disclosure – Carnival

Sounding a bit like Mount Kimbie on speed, South London’s brother-brother duo Disclosure may tread familiar ground, but in such a manic, enthusiastic way that they manage to feel totally fresh doing so. With their relentlessly energetic, thumping beats, it’s hard to deny they have a great presence, something that’s been winning them new fans left right and centre. Underneath Carnival’s thick basslines and hyperactive drum machine beats is a surprisingly addictive ear-worm of a melody. The same goes for the (very marginally) slower-paced B-side I Love That You Know, an explosion of choppy synths, booming vocals and ear-piercing bleeping. It’s all just incredibly moreish. You’ll be awaiting their next release with baited breath by the time you’re finished here.
