O’ Death – Outside

Outside there’s a new sun. Outside I can hear music coming from everywhere, but this is the music I’m listening to: O’Death, which is not an exclamation I’m using to let pathos grow, (though it might be used that way), it’s the name of the American band that in these last years has succeeded in combining different types of punk, metal, folk, and in my opinion even an indie soul similar to Death Cab For Cutie’s one.
Outside it’s not just the new album by these visionary musicians, it’s also a living dream, a magical experience: if you close your eyes while the lyrics tell you what you need to know about O’Death’s feelings, you’ll see bugs all over your body and soul; while the first song comes to an end, your head will start feeling empty, like there’s no thought in there, it’s just yourself alive with the notes you’re hearing. That’s all very well but as every respectable dream, I warn you, dark moments will occur as well: I’m sure you’re already settled into nightmares, so it won’t be difficult for you to survive to Alamar, Ourselves and Howling Through dark atmospheres, and you’ll be reward with the last three wondrous tracks, I guarantee.
But I won’t tell you where this journey will take you, because is your job to discover it.
So please, let this be our secret: their music will charm you.
Well, you have my permission to spread the secret.
