Leeds-based four piece Club Smith release their debut AA side single ‘No Friend of Mine’ / ‘Young Defeatists’ on 6^th June via Front Wall Records. A relatively new band on the music scene Club Smith are already making a name for themselves and have already opened up shows for the likes of Mystery Jets, Two Door Cinema Club and more recently for Pigeon Detectives on their UK tour.

‘No Friend of Mine’ is a high energy anthem that just begs to be heard live. It is ultra dramatic with multiple stops and starts, chanting, and intense drums. It begins with raging guitars shortly followed by the lyrics ‘Well it don’t get better than this; we solve our problems with our fists” and the element of drama only increases from then on. ‘The video for this song is not to be missed- it was directed and produced by Danny North and Tim Blackwell and features an aggressive boxing match which is a perfect visual representation of this energetic, lively song.

‘Young Defeatists’ is a darker moodier attempt by Club Smith that continues with the melodramatic theme of ‘No Friend of Mine’. Club Smith clearly put a lot of emphasis and effort into their lyrics which are very powerful and attention grabbing. This release is a solid effort by Club Smith and is definitely worth checking out.
