‘DELETED SCENES FROM THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR’
CARO EMERALD HAS THE NUMBER 10 ALBUM IN THIS WEEK’S CHART!
ON DRAMATICO RECORDS
We are proud to announce that Caro Emerald’s debut album ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room floor has reached number 10 in the Top 40 Album Chart. Featuring the singles ‘Back It Up, ‘Riviera Life’ and ‘A Night Like This’, it is a winning, assured and highly individual pop record.
Since its release in October, ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ has won critical acclaim and been a fixture on UK airplay charts. All of her singles so far have been A-listed by BBC Radio 2 – ‘Riviera Life’ staying on the playlist for over two months including during the Christmas period – while Caro was also invited to perform a special gig for Smooth FM competition winners. Having taken an extended break from performing after surgery to remove a vocal polyp that prevented her from singing, last week Caro returned to the UK to perform her most recent single ‘A Night Like This’ on ITV’s ‘This Morning.’
Caro has previously knocked Michael Bublé off the top of The Official Charts Company’s UK Jazz and Blues Albums chart. ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ debuted at number 1, knocking Bublé’s ‘Call Me Irresponsible’ from the top spot.
‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ draws from a rich pool of swing and jazz influences. Samba, jazz, bossa nova and mambo all rub sepia-tinged shoulders on this neo-swing pop album with its recurring theme of love and loyalty, flirtation and frustration.
The story of Caro Emerald is a true example of how word-of-mouth can lead to an overnight smash. An impromptu performance of her first song ‘Back It Up’ on a local TV station in Holland was posted to youtube and led to an overwhelming clamour to hear more of this phenomenally exciting new singer. Yet with only one song to her name, Caro and her producers David Schreurs, Jan van Wieringen and Vince Degiorgio set about crafting a whole album of original material inspired by their love of 40’s and 50’s film and music, making it accessible for a modern audience.
‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ was released in Holland in January 2010, and soon became a countrywide smash. Having broken a record set by Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ for most weeks spent at Number One (now an astonishing 30 weeks), and been awarded prestigious music accolade the Edison Award and nominated for an MTV EMA, Caro’s sound has spread across dancehalls and airwaves across the continent.
From swinging opener ‘That Man’ all the way through to the last track ‘The Lipstick On His Collar’, and taking in the jazzy, sassy ‘Stuck’ – which has featured on ad campaigns for DFS and Sky TV – the laidback ‘Riviera Life’ and the ubiquitous, immediate ‘Back It Up’, Caro Emerald has swiftly proved herself a fantastic pop artist with an appealing aesthetic.
