Watch Starfucker’s New Video For ‘Julius’
“… like a combination of Chromeo and ELO, indulging in theatrical silliness while conjuring sugary pop hooks… providing a kinetic, anything-can-happen energy.” – Pitchfork
“STRFKR has created a set of danceable, positive-minded pop songs, many of which seem to have been deconstructed, stripped of their immediate urgency, yet… manage to retain their hooks” – The Fader
” the kind of swirling chill-pop seen in Passion Pit or MGMT’s more sedate moments.” Drowned in Sound
“This spazzy quartet belies their unfit-to-fully-print name… a dazzling collection of synth-pop fizz.” – Spin 8/10
Portland electronic band Starfucker have released their brand new video for ‘Julius’. This track is taken from their latest album, ‘Reptilians’, released on Polyvinyl earlier this year.
Directed by Jason Miller (who has directed videos for Of Montreal, Major Lazer and Rusko), the adventure of Julius is filmed as a young protagonist’s quest to save a princess in captivity. As he journeys into the western terrain a cloaked STRFKR perform from a foreboding alcove in the forest.
Starfucker just finished an extensive sold-out US tour with Casiokids, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Brahms, and We All Have Hooks For Hands. Due to unforeseen circumstances, their UK tour has been postponed, however it will be rescheduled for the autumn.
In the past, Portland, Oregon, based Starfucker has received almost as much attention for it’s not always accessible moniker, as for its immensely accessible dance hooks. But, having flirted briefly with a couple of name changes, the group is now firmly settled on Starfucker, and so the focus can rightly return to what got people talking in the first place: the quartet’s endlessly catchy, hook-laden pop.
‘Reptilians’ is out now on Polyvinyl Records.
