The Horn The Hunt – Depresseur Jolie
aaamusic | On 23, May 2011
Exceptionally talented indie duo The Horn The Hunt (i.e. Clare Carter and Joseph Osborne) follow up their debut with Depressur Jolie, a dark, synth-heavy, epic journey that ends up somewhere between Kate Bush and rock-infused pop – it’s very telling that has Carter described the album as the story of a ‘voyage’. Synthesisers and thumping, psychedelic beats make up the foundations of the album, all the while led along by Carter’s alternately ethereal and ear-bursting vocals. While various tracks do have their introspective elements, this is mainly a pop album – more often than not you’ll find energetic, danceable tracks rather than synthy ambience here. The record is all the better for it – all in all an great album that deserves to be listened to.
