Abigail Washburn concerts in UK

Hailed by Newsweek for creating a “gorgeous, joyful new sound,” acclaimed singer, songwriter and clawhammer banjo player Abigail Washburn spent 2009 and 2010 challenging creative boundaries – her timeless roots sound filtered through indie pop – for her third album, City of Refuge. Raw, ethereal and at times lushly orchestrated, City of Refuge unites renowned producer Tucker Martine (the Decemberists, Spoon, Sufjan Stevens) with Washburn’s classic songwriting, striking voice and old-time storytelling aesthetic.
She began the year with an immensely successful UK tour and album launch that has found major critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. She returns in May to launch her first single at radio with a short tour with co writer and multi instrumentalist Kai Welch. Abigail has been touring extensively in the US including SXSW and is set to continue with appearances at Bonnaroo, Telluride and a tour of the West Coast this summer along with UK summer Festivals.
