Caro Emerald – A Night Like This

Back in shape after a surgery, Caro Emerald finally releases A Night Like This, initially scheduled for release in February. Even though the vintage pop star couldn’t tour and promote the new single, this song is already a sensation in the continent and at last sees the light in UK too. Already a big success in Holland and Italy, the excerpt from debut album Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor is been already selected for a Martini’s ad.
It is hard then to describe the blissful vibes coming from a tune that is already in hit across Europe and is literally going to invade programming in all UK’s radio stations in during this summer. Well, ladies and gentlemen, hail the queen of pop on the beach, enjoy it as long as you can, because you’ll detest it quite soon.

Caro Emerald is a strange character inside the present music scene, producing top-chart-hits without a dance or easy pop flavour, her music roots have to be found in swing, jazz, mambo and rumba. She dresses like Jane Russell and sings in a 50s style, her voice is smooth, precise and caressing.
A Night Like This, the last single from “Deleted Scenes From the Cutting Room Floor”, starts with a tango piano rhythm that is the pivot of the arrangement, while other elements revolve around it: first, the gentle Caro’s vocals, at one point distorted in a pleasant lounge effect, then harps to give the tune a dreamy melody and the guitar solo at the end, to make it more modern with a Latin flavour.
It can seem a complex tune, indeed it is not, but it is a well produced song, careful of details and sounding like it wants to sound, a guaranteed success.
