The Victorian English Gentlemens Club // ‘Blood Pie’ Cassette Release
aaamusic | On 12, May 2011
The Victorian English Gentlemens Club have today released ‘Blood Pie’, a limited edition cassette featuring demos and early versions of tracks which either did, or didn’t make forthcoming album, ‘Bag Of Meat’ – released 13th June.
‘Blood Pie’ is described by the band as “a yellow cassette of 16 demos, preparations, unreleased songs, dirge remixes and strange things – none of which are available anywhere else. 16 songs, 40 mins. We recorded these songs ourselves in a kitchen at low volume as not to upset the neighbours. In the studio we make things loud and aggressive, but listening back we realised that there’s something very nice about the restraint in these recordings. There’s also some songs that weren’t right for the album, but couldn’t abandon. Altogether it’s a good introduction of how this record came to be.”
It will be available exclusively via the band’s online shop (http://thevictorianenglishgentlemensclub.bigcartel.com/product/blood-pie-cassette-album-3-demos-rarities), and in person on the following live dates, beginning with a slot at The Great Escape on Friday.
