“Because I signed on for the American dream
Now I write my name to the welfare scheme”

FLOGGING MOLLY, the legendary 7-piece Celtic punk ensemble, have just announced an intimate UK club show, at London Garage, on Wednesday 29th June 2011. Coming in the midst of a packed European festival schedule this show will be strictly limited to 400 tickets only. The tickets will be available from 9am GMT Thursday 12th May 2011 for a fan presale from the Flogging Molly store via www.floggingmolly.com. The tickets will then be on general sale from 9am GMT Friday 13th May 2011.

The exclusive one off show will be a unique chance to see the band in an intimate club venue, something very different to the festival stages they are playing across Europe this summer – including the UK’s Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds festivals. The band will be playing tracks form their forthcoming album “Speed Of Darkness” album in amongst a host of Flogging Molly classics…

Recorded with producer Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Avett Brothers), “Speed Of Darkness” follows up their acclaimed 2008 release ‘Float’, which debuted at #4 on the US Billboard Top 200 and sold over 2 million copies in the US. The band’s last album also sold over 80,000 copies in the UK and Europe. The central themes found in the new album are typified by this, the campaign’s first single proper. (To announce the new record, the band offered a blistering first single, ‘Don’t Shut ‘Em Down’, as a free download).

The album will be followed by a single, “Revolution” – a future Flogging Molly classic with a biting call to action, the band unleash a single that will appeal to the army of Molly Faithful and new fans alike, with expert musicianship and powerful rootsy instrumentation whipped up into a rousing brew which is already rocking the band’s live set and will be released the week of this exclusive London club show.

The bulk of the new album was written in the city of Detroit, original home to Flogging Molly fiddler (and front man Dave King’s wife) Bridget Regan, and the city where the couple have resided almost fulltime for the last three years. “Speed Of Darkness” takes a hard-nosed look at the economic collapse in the US and the direct effect it has had on everyday people. The Motor City serves as the album’s muse and a painful example of what has gone wrong in today’s world. “Speed of Darkness” is an album of rebellion and exile, and of struggle and history and the fight, and moves the hard talking, hard playing outfit into the territory of purveyors of the modern American protest song.

Flogging Molly will be touring the UK later in 2011 after a summer-full of headline UK and European Festival slots. Confirmed UK dates so far:
Saturday 25th June Glastonbury Festival
Friday 29th June London, Garage – Headline one off club show
Friday 26th August Leeds Festival
Sunday 28th August Reading Festival
