Common Tongues release debut single ‘Jumping Ships’ on May 23rd

| On 09, May 2011

Common Tongues are an indie folk 5 piece band hailing from the shores of Brighton releasing their debut single ‘Jumping Ships‘ through Something Nothing Records 23rd May 2011. Singer/guitarists Tom and Oli grew up together in rural Cambridgeshire sharing a passion for songwriting that blossomed into compelling stories of their lives and loves.

After completing the line up in the early spring of 2010 and a series of increasingly packed out gigs, they quickly found themselves on festival dates such as Great Escape, Secret Garden Party and Playgroup festival. As Common Tongues developed their sound, they managed to maintain the harmony and intimacy of Tom and Oli’s writing with often uptempo and dynamic rhythm section of Dan and James. Add Andy’s gypsy influenced fiddle playing and the band communicate energy and vitality where ever they play. With a sound that lies somewhere between Crosby, Stills and Nash and Arcade Fire, Common Tongues also cite Bon Iver, Local Natives, The Band and Eels as big influences.

With some packed out London shows already completed this year, a series of tracks recorded for release over the coming months and a cluster of festival dates confirmed for the summer, Common Tongues are prepped up for a busy 2011.
