Kitsune Maison Compilation 11 – The Indie-Dance Issue
aaamusic | On 08, May 2011
It took eleven chapters for Kitsune Maison to finally find a tracklist that could encapsulate Parisian label’s true nature. As Gildas Loaec explains, “We’re perceived as a club label when really we’ve always been between ‘club’ and ‘indie’, and this new compilation sits right at the crossroad of the two.”
From the mysterious act behind opening track Let’s Go All The Way and its XX-esque beats to the romantic synth of Alexander Dexter Jones’ Phantastic Phone Call, this Indie-Dance Issue is maybe the catchiest compilation ever released by Kitsune. This doesn’t make it disposable or superficial neither.
Echoes of The Rapture and Phoenix drift through the notes of Housse De Racket’s Roman. Polarsets are extremely powerful, like JJ72 through Friendly Fires. Shadows of Foals cast an intriguing atmosphere of darkness on Gallop’s Miami Spider. XX’s Romy dominates the liquid synths of Creep’s Days.
This compilation oozes with Italo-disco, indie, garage. It’s going to be very hard to find anybody that won’t be enthralled by these tunes. A must have!
