A Pale Horse Named Death, the new band formed and lead by Life Of Agony’s Sal Abruscato, have signed a worldwide recording contract with Steamhammer / SPV to release the band’s debut album ‘And Hell Will Follow Me’, on June 20th.
Brooklyn, NY native Sal Abruscato, who first came to the fore as drummer and co-founder of Type O Negative (with Peter Steele), and then as sticksman for Life Of Agony, has stepped out from behind the kit to become the singer, songwriter and guitarist for A Pale Horse Named Death.
‘And Hell Will Follow Me’, which sounds like Alice In Chains mysteriously sneaking up behind Type O Negative with a butcher’s knife while being filmed for a future episode of ‘Law & Order’, is “the best album I have ever done” states Sal.
Sal’s partner in crime on ‘And Hell Will Follow Me’, is Matt Brown, another Brooklyn native and guitarist of fellow NY band Seventh Void, who is also a seasoned live sound engineer who has toured the world working with Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Antony and The Johnsons, Janes Addiction, Scissor Sisters and Gorillaz, to name but a few.
“The chemistry between me and Matt is unique and flawless; very rare in today’s music. We are the murdering evil version of Lennon and McCartney” says Abruscato. Brown continues, “Sal asked me if I would help to take these songs to the next level. I took on this project for my friend, to find some closure in rough times. The music is just an extension of our friendship and our passion for creativity.”
Sal Abruscato started playing drums aged ten years old. He co-founded Type O Negative and performed on ‘Slow’, ‘Deep & Hard’, ‘Origin Of The Feces’, ‘’Bloody Kisses’ and various best of and soundtracks. Sal is the drummer in Life Of Agony and performed on ‘River Runs Red’, ‘Ugly’, ‘River Runs Again’ and ‘Broken Valley’. Additional projects include Supermassiv and My Mortality.
As a producer and musician, Matt Brown co-founded and played guitar in Uranium 235, featuring members of Law and Order, Supermassiv, featuring members of Life Of Agony, and Seventh Void’, featuring members of Type O Negative.
Life of Agony’s Keith Caputo lent background vocals to four tracks and Lou Reed’s saxophonist Ulrich Krieger guests on “Die Alone”. Bobby Hambel from Biohazard – who also plays with the band live – played lead guitar on three tunes. Alongside Sal, Matt and Bobby, the live line-up places Type O and Seventh Void drummer Johnny Kelly behind the kit, and Eric Morgan on bass.
‘And Hell Will Follow Me’ will be released in high class digipak CD format, containing a 20 page booklet (with artwork for each individual song), and as a double gatefold vinyl album, containing an exclusive bonus track plus CD. All artwork is by Sam Shearon, who has previously worked with the likes of Rob Zombie, Fear Factory and Cradle of Filth.
