With the countless indie-rock bands on the music scene today, I was very intrigued to listen to ‘King’ the first single by London band Crows who describe their music as surf rock mixed with trash and garage.  An interesting musical combination that sounds a little bizarre in theory, however these guys somehow manage to pull this unlikely fusion off.

The only word I can think of to adequately describe this single is “funky”.  You can definitely hear the surf- rock influence in their music through the quavering vocals, distorted guitars and swing rhythm. A cracking tune.

B-side ‘Korea’ starts with a surf-rock intro and quickly descends into an upbeat, fast-paced number with a memorable melody. 

Overall, I would say that this single from Crows is refreshing. You have to hand it to them for trying something unique.
