Allie Moss – Late Bloomer’

| On 07, May 2011

Jersey born Allie Moss releases her debut album ‘Late Bloomer’ on May 9th and will follow the release with a string shows across the UK. First single ‘Melancholy Astronautic Man’ is a mid tempo song that is charming and an easy listen- a perfect slow summer tune.

Her music is acoustic folk with a sprinkle of indie that you can especially hear in numbers like ‘Rally’ a Kate Nash-esque song that is wonderfully simplistic and allows Moss’ vocals to really shine through. ‘Make your Move’ is another highlight. This is a beautiful, melancholy love song-complete with background rain. ‘Dig With Me’ has been used on TV show “Pretty Little Liars” and it’s easy to see why. This song is very well written- starting off slow and building up into a rich chorus but never losing the tempo.

At times Moss reminds me of Alanis Morissette but with a softer touch. You cannot help but hang on to every lyric that she sings on this album. This is due to her smooth vocal delivery and the minimal accompaniment that gives the album a pure, honest and relatable feel.
