You may have already heard the sublime voice of New Jersey’s Allie Moss from her breakout single ‘Corner’. A soundtrack to the BT Infinity advert, radio play from several DJs on BBC Radio 2, 30,000 downloads and over 850,000 YouTube hits later, Allie is back with a brand new single, debut album and full UK tour.
Allie’s rise has been truly organic within a digital context, thanks to her inspiring songs finding a huge audience via the internet. After recording ‘Corner’ and putting the song online, Allie was contacted via Facebook by someone wishing to use the track for a national television advert. Just three days later, the song was shown on screens across the country on a BT Infinity commercial. With listeners discovering her music by using Shazam on their smartphones and seeing the YouTube stream of the song spread via social networks, ‘Corner’ captured the hearts of thousands, who rushed to iTunes to download the track.
One such listener was the Manchester-based illustrator David Ryan Robinson, who contacted Allie with the idea of creating some artwork for her forthcoming album ‘Late Bloomer.’ Allie was so impressed with this burgeoning artist’s work, that she commissioned him to create pieces for the album, her website and merchandise. Further proving that there is a special quality to Allie’s music, devotees of her songs have been inspired to remix and cover her work, uploading their creations to YouTube.
Allie’s debut album ‘Late Bloomer’ sparkles with her refined vocals and stories of love and loss. Her next single ‘Melancholy Astronautic Man’ looks set to recapture her original fans as well as attracting avid new ones. Sam Kassirer, producer of two Josh Ritter albums as well as Allie’s ‘Late Bloomer’, along with drummer Liam Hurley, created a charming stop/start animation video made entirely of Lego for Allie as a gift. The video can now be seen here:
With Allie’s album ‘Late Bloomer’, released May 9th and the new single ‘Melancholy Astronautic Man’, released May 2nd, both through Soundy Music, Allie is looking forward to connecting with people both digitally and face to face, when she takes to stages across the UK, including some select in-store performances at Caffe Nero throughout May.
