Hanson – Give A Little

| On 01, May 2011

Thank God Hanson released a new single to cheer up my weekend!
Give a little is an outburst of musical optimism and lyrical cheekiness, an invitation to get loose and try to win the girl you love.
The tune starts with a simple guitar riff and a finger snap, a signal that a wave of soul-infused pop-rock can explode with sax, winds and gospel choirs. It’s totally enjoyable, Taylor sings with the usual beautiful voice, this time spiced with a pinch of naughtiness.
This single sounds more light-hearted compared to songs like “Great Divide” from the previous album, maybe they want to recover their old teen freshness, and the choice is winning because they can better face the happy side of soul with a bigger music maturity creating a very good tune.
Give a little is the first single from “Shout It Out” which made its debut last year at #2 in the US Billboard independent charts, a collection of finely crafted R&B-flavored pop-rock, a homage to the music that inspired HANSON when they started out.
Produced and written exclusively by the band, the album is augmented with special guests: Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt, who played on some of Motown’s greatest hits and horn arranger Jerry Hey, who worked with Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more.
