Deep Sea Arcade Release ‘Lonely In Your Arms’ on 30th May, UK Tour in May & Release Free Remix

| On 01, May 2011

Led by vocalist Nic McKenzie and bassist Nick Weaver, Deep Sea Arcade combine their love of ‘60s beat, surf and psychedelic pop with 80’s new wave, and 90’s indie. A recent signing to Ivy League Records in Australia, and eminent management company Winterman & Goldstein who between them have helped launch the best of Australia’s musical imports including, Jet, The Vines, Empire Of The Sun, Cloud Control and Youth Group.

McKenzie, the son of an Australian foreign correspondent and the grandson of a senior MI6 officer (yes, a real life ‘60s era James Bond) spent his childhood and adolescent years in London where he became engrossed in the world of Brit pop and trip hop. Both styles had a lasting effect. After relocating back to Sydney, McKenzie re-united with a teenage Weaver at high school. They instantly bonded over shared influences, penned dozens of songs and then experimented with every sort of sound in their bedroom DIY studio for several years before finding their perfect counterparts in drummer Carlos Adura and guitarists Simon Relf and Tim Chamberlain.

The band’s debut UK release ‘Lonely In Your Arms’ will be available digitally and on limited 7″ on 30th May through New Music Club and is already hitting UK radio waves via Zane Lowe on Radio 1. The track mixed by Dan Grech-Marguerat (The Vaccines, Sound Of Arrows, Penguin Prison) conjures pure ’60s girl-group emotion with trebly surf-rock guitars and harmony heavy vocals to match. Also available now for a free download is a Blue Satellite remix of their track ‘Keep On Walking’ hosted by Young & Lost Club.
